Well, today was the first day back for the students. We teachers went back yesterday for inservice and workday. My students (5th grade) came in very quiet this morning, and was good for most of the day. I have a select few, as usual, that wanted to test the waters. :/ I brought papers home to grade, and as usual, several didn't EVEN turn in their work. You would think after a WHOLE semester of 5th grade that they would know by now that you MUST turn in your work in order to receive a grade. I even had one student to ask me, "Do we have to turn in our work today?" No, you don't HAVE to, but then I won't give you a grade. We have go to STOP babying our kids and hold them more responsible. These children are the ones that will lead our country someday. And from what I saw today, that REALLY scares me.
Now that I have vented, I need to go make some soap. ;D

Happy New Year!
Well, it's time to start those New Years Resolutions. You know...the ones we make, but never keep. Well, I have a few that I intend to keep this year.
1. Live life to the fullest...we are not guaranteed to be here tomorrow.
2. Start Weight Watchers...for the ????? time...and this time stick to it. This is the ONLY way to keep my family and myself healthy.
3. Make and sell my homemade soap. This is something I enjoy doing so much. I know it is something I can do. With the economy the way it is, I need to make some extra cash.
4. Blog, Blog, Blog. I make my 5th grade students journal, so why not make myself.
I am going to set small goals for myself. I have learned from the past that large goals make things feel unobtainable, and that is where I always end those needed resolutions. I will take it 1 week at a time. I'll post how it goes. ;o
